Privacy

Purplemoon tries to be a peaceful, enjoyable and trustworthy place where you can find new friends and keep in touch with existing friends. The following rules and regulations form the foundation for that idea.
Purplestar and Purplemoon together form one online community (in the following texts "Purplemoon" is used to refer to both "Purplestar" and "Purplemoon").

  • We do not hand over your data

    • While using the services on Purplemoon a lot of information can be specified voluntarily, some is mandatory, and other data is automatically gathered. We do not pass along or hand over any individual-related data to third parties. We only make an exception if criminal acts are committed through our services or if we are legally obliged to provide information.

  • We do not read your private messages/discussions

    • The numerous non-public contact possibilites with which users can communicate with each other (like messages, ratings or private groups) are only inspected by Purplemoon if we receive a complaint by a person who was involved and who therefore gives us an explicit permission to check the content.

  • We do not send you any spam or advertising

    • The contact information you provide on our website are not used to send you any kind of advertising. We only contact you to alert you about important changes to our services, to notify you about your activities on Purplemoon (can be turned off in the settings), if your profile or any content of you was deleted or other problems occured in regards to you and we warn you if it has been a long time since your last visit on Purplemoon and a profile deactivation is imminent.
    • If you become or wish to become a Power-User you are also notified if your Power-User time period is about to expire or an invoice was not paid. For other messages we ask you for permission before sending you anything.

  • You keep the rights to your contents

    • If you upload pictures or publish texts on our website all rights to these contents remain with you - we only use your data in the context of your profile according to your settings and therefore to provide our services. This also means it is your responsibility not to breach any copyrights and to check if the content is allowed on Purplemoon and appropriate. As soon as you delete contents on Purplemoon they are no longer available on our platform.
    • If any contents are deleted from Purplemoon for some reason (e.g. because they violate our Code of conduct) we store the contents in question until they are no longer needed. However the contents are not publicly accessible to anyone and are not published or used in any other way without consulting the user first.

  • Personalised advertising

    • The information in your profile and the data we gather while you use Purplemoon can be used to show you personalized advertising. Your data is never transferred to advertising clients so there is no risk of exposure to any third party. We also see advantages in personalized advertising for you as a user, because the potential of coming across an interesting offer is much higher.
    • If you decide to become a Power-User you can turn off any advertising, which means you only see personalized ads if you expressly choose to see them.

  • Advertising by third parties

    • Besides own advertising it can occur that we insert advertising from third parties. These third parties can use your visit to Purplemoon to show you more relevant advertising - yet we do not provide these third parties with any information about you, so your information is still not accessible for third parties outside of Purplemoon.
    • If you decide to become a Power-User you can turn off any advertising, which means you only see ads from third parties if you expressly choose to see them.

  • Storage of IPs and analysis of usage

    • Oftentimes the IP address (the internet address of the user) is saved when using our services. We do this so we can determine the person responsible for any abuse, if anything happens (e.g. for a criminal offense/criminal proceeding). For statistical reasons and to improve our services we also monitor the usage of our website (logins, online time, among other things).

  • Your freely accessible data

    • Most of the data accessible through our services on Purplemoon was provided so other people can access them. Because the data is available to many people or at least some people (depending on usage and settings) we cannot take responsibility on how the information is used and where it spreads to.

  • Changes to privacy policy

    • If Purplemoon changes this privacy policy a note will be published on the start page (only visible when logged in) and the new privacy policy will take effect 30 days later for existing users. Within the 30 days the user can object to the changes by deleting his profile. If he has not deleted the profile after 30 days he automatically agrees to the changes.
